This online publication is launched at the opening of the exhibition Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. The two other venues were at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin and Musee du Louvre in Paris.

RKD together with the exhibition partners developed a website with information on the relationships between 17th-century Dutch genre painters and serves as a research tool for students and scholars around the world: Connect Vermeer.
